Bonar Law to acknowledge the receipt of

your letter ho. 161970/X/1916 of the 29th

August transmitting a copy of a Note from

the French Chargé d'Affaires, and to

request that you will invite the attention

of Viscount Grey of Fallodon to the letter

from this Department of the 22nd of lay

from which it will be seen that the

Governor of Hong Kong was informed on

the 17th of May that he might allow the

trans-shipment to France of silk and

silk waste from China, which it is

presumed is the silk referred to by
